Grow Studios is in Main Yard in Hackney Wick and is home to over 20 creative practitioners, music studios and small and medium enterprises.

Formed from two previously empty warehouses close to the Hackney Wick train station, with one backing onto the Lea Navigation canal, Grow Studios has been providing affordable workspace and studios for over 10 years.  Over 100  visual/street artists, photographers, filmmakers, 2D modellers, architects, clothing designers/makers, set & furniture designer makers, music producers have called Grow Studios their creative home.

Grow Studios is also part of the same warehouse as Grow, Hackney; an independent creative space, bar and kitchen, which operates as an experiment in ethical and sustainable business.  Both Grow Studios and Grow Hackney can be described as an eco-system where studio holders share knowledge, skills and equipment as part of the sharing economy. Studio holders also get a discount from the bar and kitchen and hold events in the creative space.

Grow Studios is:

  • Accredited as a London Borough of Hackney approved workspace provider
  • Signed up to green electricity supplier and committed to use of ecological cleaning products and independent local suppliers, wherever possible
  • Committed to paying London Living Wage.

Grow Studios are happy to announce that we have taken a lease on a third warehouse in Main Yard, Hackney Wick. We are splitting this warehouse into smaller units, many of approx 600 sqft, and others of around 500 sqft. There may be one unit of 900 sqft and at this stage larger units could be created as we have not built all the walls yet.

We are more than happy for groups of artists/co workers to take on spaces together – this is much cheaper than renting desk space and the height of the units means that workable mezzanines can be built providing a lot more floor space and flexibility. (We are happy to advise on any building work).

Located in Hackney Wick, 3 mins walk from Queen Elizabeth Park (ex Olympic Games site) the River Lea and canal, 6 mins walk from overground station from door to platform, at a normal pace (no exaggeration) which will be cut to less than 4 minutes in 6 months or so when the new entrances to the station are opened.

The other Grow Studios buildings in the yard house many other creative business in including music studios, carpenters, dress makers, designers and audio and lighting hire. The location is next door to the canalside Grow bar kitchen and creative space - an experiment in ethical and sustainable business (which for the right business could bring many benefits including networking and collaborative projects).

Also, note that there are 2 units that face onto the yard with shutters/windows and the possibility of a lot of glass frontage – could be great for showrooms, shops etc.

Note: we will be repainting the front of the building

- 3.84m high ceiling (tall enough to build a mezzanine with just over 6ft space above and below).
- sink and water
- the flexibility to create the workspace how you want so that it works for you.
- multiple electric sockets
- shared bathroom and use of shower
- Ground floor, with wide doors
- 24 hour security
- if needed, parking can be negotiated.
- leases from 6 months – 2 years

NOTE: this is NOT a live/work space.
